Expertise 
Sam’s practice focuses on all aspects of restructuring and insolvency, whether contentious, non-contentious or advisory. His clients are predominantly insolvency practitioners and lenders, but he has advised all manner of stakeholders in a variety of distressed situations.
Sam’s substantial experience of litigation in the context of insolvency proceedings includes claims to recover misappropriated assets and complex applications for directions by officeholders (with particular expertise in the financial services sector).
His non-contentious experience includes significant restructuring assignments in a range of sectors, from hotel and leisure to telecoms. His advisory work regularly involves technical and intricate issues of law.
Sam’s knowledge and experience enables him to provide strong, clear and commercial advice for his clients.
Experience 
- Acting for administrators on the sale of a £150m-turnover telecoms business.
- Advising liquidators in relation to two complex applications to determine the validity of security over multi-million pound debt lines.
- Advising liquidators of two financial services firms on the distribution of client money and tracing of missing owners.
- Advising subordinated secured lenders following the failure of the borrower group.
- Two successful defences of insolvency practitioners against multi-million pound claims.
- Successfully prosecuting multiple claims by officeholders to recover money for creditors.

Sam is an active member of R3, the trade body representing professionals in restructuring and insolvency. He is a member of the training and course committee, as part of which he designs and delivers training to other members.
