Wedlake Bell strengthens family offering with appointment of Partner Rebecca Christie
Wedlake Bell has announced the arrival of Rebecca Christie, who joins the firm as a Partner in the Family team. Bolstering the team’s partner number to three, Rebecca brings a rare combination of leading family law expertise and recognised authority in art and cultural property law. Her appointment follows Natasha Kurth‘s promotion to the Partnership in November 2025.
Rebecca, who joins the firm from Fladgate, has experience in all areas of family law, and has acted for a wide variety of clients both internationally and throughout the UK, but especially cases that require substantial client care.
Her practice spans financial remedies, private children law and modern families work, alongside specialist expertise in cases involving domestic abuse and trauma‑related issues.
A long‑standing contributor to national policy‑level work in this area, she was appointed to Resolution’s Domestic Abuse Committee in 2022, and elected Co‑Chair in 2024. In 2025, Rebecca also developed and implemented Fladgate’s policy supporting employees navigating relationship breakdowns. The policy provided education on the legal implications of separation and addressed workplace responses to domestic abuse.
In addition to her family law practice, Rebecca has a well‑established reputation in art and cultural property law. She advises private clients on both contentious and non‑contentious matters including attribution, provenance, authenticity, title and the handling of unlawfully trafficked cultural goods. This dual specialism positions her uniquely to advise on high net worth divorces and civil partnership dissolutions where significant art assets or collections are involved.
Her leadership in the art market extends beyond her legal practice. In 2021, Rebecca founded PING, the Next Generation arm of the Professional Advisors to the International Art Market (PAIAM). She chaired the Committee until 2023 before joining the main Board for the UK and Europe. She was appointed Vice Chair in 2024 and elected Chair of the PAIAM Board in 2025.
Alex Davies, Head of Family, said of Rebecca’s arrival: “We are delighted to welcome Rebecca to the firm. Her depth of expertise across both family law and art and cultural property law is exceptional, and her arrival further strengthens our offering to clients with challenging family and asset‑related matters.”
Rebecca added: “I am really pleased to join the team at Wedlake Bell at such an exciting point in the firm’s growth. This felt like a natural step for me with the firm’s combination of its long‑standing reputation for exceptional client service and expertise across both Family and Art & Luxury work creates a unique platform for clients facing complex and often deeply personal challenges.”
