- Projects & Infrastructure
Our Projects and Infrastructure team advises clients across various sectors, including energy, transport, healthcare, education and housing.
Supporting clients throughout the full lifecycle of a project, from concept to completion, and thereafter advising in connection with operation, management, optimisation and disposal, we have experience in both the public and private sectors, and collaborations between the two.
We aim to act as a project partner assisting in the delivery of complex projects and understand the pressure to deliver on time, on budget and in line with policy.
Our work includes advising on the structuring and funding of development vehicles, environmental law, the intricacies of planning, and real estate acquisition, development and management. We draft construction and delivery contracts, advise on risk and compliance strategies, help secure the finance that underpins delivery and provide dispute resolution support to keep projects on track.
We assist with the promotion of, or opposition to, development proposals including those classified as Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) and those falling within other consenting regimes. We provide strategic advice and representation for all stakeholders.
Ports
Our team has a particular specialism in the ports sector, acting for port operators, landowners, developers and local authorities on a range of issues, from expansion and development to statutory powers and leasing. We bring industry insight to the legal complexities faced by our port clients. Our work encompasses the development and financing of port infrastructure and navigating planning, environmental and consenting regimes.
We support clients in managing real estate, developing operational agreements and complying with a full range of port-related regulations, including safety, pollution, pilotage and dredging.
Our work includes:
- Development of port infrastructure, installations and facilities;
- Use of port and terminal facilities, including concessions, operating agreements, management contracts and outsourcing;
- Establishment and operation of port and other maritime authorities;
- Drafting, enactment, interpretation of, and challenge to, legislation;
- Regulatory compliance in relation to all aspects of port operation including port and marine safety, pollution control, pilotage, dredging and health and safety issues; and
- Port information and management systems acquisition, integration and development.
Energy
Our team has a keen interest in the energy sector, and the role it must play in achieving carbon neutrality. We act for developers, operators, investors, landowners and other project participants across renewables, clean energy and private networks. We advise on regulatory compliance, risk management and the delivery of energy projects that contribute to a greener economy.
