01 / 12 / 2016

Wedlake Bell is pleased to announce that Kim Lalli has been elected as the firm’s Senior Partner. This will be for a four year term that begins on 1st January 2017. Kim’s appointment comes shortly after Managing Partner, Martin Arnold, was re-elected for a second term to lead the firm. Martin has been in the position since 2012 and his new term is effective from April 2017.

Kim Lalli is Head of both the Real Estate Group and the India Group. She has been at Wedlake Bell for almost 14 years and is the firm’s first female Senior Partner. Wedlake Bell is committed to promoting the organic growth of talent on merit, and over a third of the firm’s partnership are female, with a total of 96 female fee-earners. In addition, Wedlake Bell is ninth (out of the UK 200) in terms of the percentage of Equity Partners who are female.

Managing Partner, Martin Arnold, joined the firm as a trainee in 1987 and remains at the helm as Wedlake Bell continues to implement its important move towards greater flexibility in working practices as staff increasingly embrace agile working.  He led the move to new offices in Queen Victoria Street, the 34,000 square feet space that now houses all of Wedlake Bell’s employees.

Kim Lalli, the new Senior Partner at Wedlake Bell, says: “I am thrilled to have been elected as Senior Partner, having been at the firm for almost 14 years now, and feeling very much at home here and proud of what we have achieved in the time since I joined. When I joined the firm in 2003, I was only the fourth female Partner.  Real progress has been made since, which reflects the changing landscape of the legal profession. We are genuinely committed to equal opportunities for all, and I believe that Wedlake Bell’s commitment to merit and agile working has created a supportive environment where there is every opportunity for all members of the firm to fulfil their career aspirations.”

Martin Arnold, Managing Partner at Wedlake Bell, comments: “It is a privilege to lead such a dynamic firm and I look forward to working closely with Kim to lead Wedlake Bell. We are thriving in our new offices in Queen Victoria Street that really promote agile working and are committed to supporting both home-grown talent and bringing outstanding candidates into the firm.  We are now at the heart of St Paul’s in the City of London and the firm is in an excellent position to take care of clients’ business and private client needs.”
