Tribute – David Golten

Wedlake Bell regrets to announce that David Golten, our Partner and head of Commercial Litigation passed away on 18th February. David joined our firm in 2012 and was a highly respected litigator and wonderful colleague. David built a formidable reputation in dispute resolution and  was best known for his work in high value commercial contract and shareholder disputes and professional negligence matters.  David had acted in several high profile cases, representing clients in the Court of Appeal, the House of Lords and the European Court of Justice. Notable cases include the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom in Miller v Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union [2017] UKSC 5 and in the Supreme Court of Kenya in the successful challenge brought by Raila Odinga to the Kenyan Presidential election in 2017.

David will be missed by all his colleagues and friends at the firm and our thoughts are with his wife and children at this difficult time.

Wedlake Bell Managing Partner Martin Arnold says: “David’s passing is a very sad loss for Wedlake Bell and his family is in our thoughts and prayers. I would like to pay tribute to a magnificent lawyer, colleague and friend who was passionate about his clients and work. David will be greatly missed.”
