Suleika is a trainee solicitor, currently undertaking her third seat in the Employment, having completed her first seat in the Commercial Property department, and her second seat in the Insolvency and Restructuring team.

Suleika is fluent in Spanish and has an understanding of Spanish legal terminology, having studied law with Spanish law at university, which included a year in Spain. She has drawn on these skills in assisting with matters involving Spanish-speaking clients and cross-border work with Latin American jurisdictions across various departments within the firm.

Formerly a co-founder and managing director of a marine conservation and ecotourism company in the Maldives, as well as a volunteer for Student Action for Refugees, Suleika’s background has ensured strong client facing and communication skills as well as an understanding of the commercial needs of a range of organisations.

  • Acting as a Spanish-speaking liaison in a private client matter involving a donation to a Mexican charity under an English will, including facilitating communication with the charity, translating key documents and helping to implement the cross-border transfer.
  • Supporting the rehabilitation of a dormant charity that had been involved in litigation, including facilitating the appointment of new trustees, organising the annual general meeting, handling post-appointment formalities and helping to oversee the smooth transfer of control.
  • Assisting in advising a client in relation to four urgent applications: a sharing order, an interim receivership order, a provisional liquidation order and a search and seizure order. This included helping to prepare for and execute a raid and securing key documents to trace and preserve assets obtained through a substantial fraud.

  • Translator of the official website for the Descenso del Sella International Canoe Race (2019–2020), which involved translating all content from Spanish to English for a global readership.
