Having trained and qualified at Wedlake Bell, Martin became a partner in the commercial litigation team before specialising in contentious insolvency work. This background continues to shape his pragmatic, commercially aware approach to leadership. His experience working with clients in complex, often high-pressure situations has given him a deep appreciation for the importance of trust, clear communication and problem-solving.
Since becoming managing partner in 2012, Martin has overseen a period of significant transformation. The firm is on course to quadruple its turnover under his leadership. He has steered Wedlake Bell through a major office move to its current City location at Queen Victoria Street, and has worked closely with partners to modernise systems, broaden the firm’s service offering and invest in talent across all areas of the business.
Martin’s leadership style is inclusive and collaborative. He believes in giving people space to grow, creating a culture of accountability and respect, and making decisions that support both commercial success and long-term resilience.
