Expertise

Josh engages in a advisory work spanning the Town and Country Planning Act for a wide range of clients. This includes advising on planning enforcement, planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessments, the Community Infrastructure Levy and planning appeals. He also has expertise in negotiating planning and infrastructure agreements from the perspective of both developer and local authority clients.

Relevant Experience

  • Advising on the submission of the planning application and Environmental Impact Assessment for the London Wall West redevelopment in the City of London.
  • Acting for a housebuilder in successfully defending injunction proceedings for an alleged breach of planning permission
  • Acting for the applicant in a planning appeal in Tower Hamlets for a large mixed use development comprising student accommodation and a data centre
  • Advising local authorities and development corporations on matters of procedure and the negotiation of planning agreements.
  • Advising a multinational retailer on planning aspects of its acquisition of a site in Covent Garden.

Career History

Josh trained at Osborne Clarke where he spent 6 months in the Construction Disputes, Project Finance, Planning and Property Disputes teams. He qualified into Osborne Clarke’s Planning team where he advised some of the UK’s largest house builders, before moving to Pinsent Masons Development Planning team.

Prior to this, Josh obtained a degree in English Literature from Durham University before converting to law at BPP London.
