James Latham

James practices in the Insolvency & Business Recovery and Commercial Litigation departments. He has over 25 years’ experience acting in contentious Insolvency Act claims for liquidators, trustees in bankruptcy and company directors, as well as in complex fraud investigations and domestic and international asset recovery.

He has extensive experience in obtaining and executing search and seizure orders (Anton Piller orders) and freezing injunctions (Mareva injunctions), tools critical in preserving evidence and assets. He frequently serves as a supervising solicitor, ensuring court-ordered searches are conducted lawfully and ethically.

• Acting for a provisional liquidator in a £15m claim against former directors for diverting company funds as part of a fraud against HMRC, involving the preparation and execution of freezing and proprietary injunctions.
• Representing administrators in recovering £50m from an unauthorised investment scheme.
• Advising on UK aspects of a £4m cross-border fraud case.

James is a member of the Insolvency Lawyers Association. He is also fellow of and on the National Council of R3, the association for business recovery professionals, as well as being a member of R3’s National Fraud and Asset Recovery Group.
