Tim Hayes provides comprehensive immigration and citizenship advice, helping both employers and employees in relation to work routes including Skilled Worker sponsorship, Global Talent and Government Authorised Exchange schemes, assisting sponsors with sponsor licensing applications and compliance and defending clients against Home Office enforcement action. His team also provides hands-on help with applications by individuals for leave to enter and remain in the UK.

Tim also provides advice to individuals on citizenship, applications under the EU Settlement Scheme and family-based routes, such as under Appendix FM and the Ancestry provisions.

Tim previously worked for the Home Office, representing the government in the Immigration and Asylum Tribunal in immigration, asylum, deportation, and bail hearings. This substantial experience enables him to handle all aspects of both business and personal immigration. He is described in Legal 500 as “so calm and very knowledgeable,” and “professional while also being sensitive and empathetic”.

Tim also provides employment law assistance, acting for both employers and employees in relation to a wide range of workplace issues including terminations, contracts and policies, and Employment Tribunal litigation.

Tim is a member of both the Law Society and the Immigration Law Practitioners Association and also delivers external training seminars on immigration topics.

  • Assisting a healthcare provider to challenge and ultimately reverse the revocation of its sponsor licence
  • Helping a large company with the immigration aspects of an acquisition of a target company with a sponsor licence, including applying for its own licence and managing the immigration impact of an internal corporate restructure.
  • Helping an overseas national to apply for citizenship under the discretionary rules as their absences far exceeded the maximum permitted, appealing the refusal, resulting in a grant of citizenship
  • Helping a prospective sponsor prepare for a Home Office compliance visit, resulting in the grant of a sponsor licence
  • Acting as Level 1 User on a multinational client’s Sponsor Management System portal and assisting its overseas staff with Skilled Worker applications.
