Owen acts for predominantly UK-based individuals on all their estate planning needs, including Lasting Powers of Attorney, Wills, tax planning, succession planning and the administration of estates and trusts.
In several cases, Owen is pleased to act for three generations of the same family, being the first port of call for all their legal requirements. For many families, he acts as trustee of their private family trusts, family charities and as executor of their estates. Often, the underlying assets for those families include heritage property, family businesses or landed estates, thereby requiring structuring advice to maximise the availability of business and agricultural property relief for the IHT-efficient passing of such assets.
Owen’s succession planning advice principally focuses on IHT and CGT and is given in relation to planning during lifetime, on death through tax-efficient Wills and post-death in respect of variations. Trusts and family investment companies form a significant part of that planning.
