Sama advises on a broad range of matters involving art, cultural property and luxury assets. Her experience includes acquisitions, consignments, commissions, loans, trusts and collection management, together with related commercial and contentious matters. She also undertakes research and policy work, including comparative analysis of legal and regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.

As part of her role with the team, Sama completed a client secondment with the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where she supported legal work relating to contemporary art and a major museum project. Her work encompassed artwork acquisitions, commissions, intellectual property licensing and provenance and ownership due diligence.

Sama’s previous experience includes research and project work relating to decolonisation and colonial heritage. She is a native Arabic and English speaker and has a particular interest in art, cultural property and cultural policy across the Arab world.

  • Contributing to a major multi-phase project involving comparative research into legal and regulatory frameworks relating to art internationally.
  • Advising on contemporary art acquisitions and high-value commissions for a major international museum project, encompassing due diligence, contract negotiations and intellectual property licensing.
  • Assisting on proposed investments involving significant international art collections and art-secured lending arrangements for trust and financial institutions.
  • Supporting artists in negotiating commission, consignment and licensing agreements.
