Laura Davies

Laura is a Senior Associate in the team, having trained at Wedlake Bell. Laura has a breadth of experience in dealing with high value and complex commercial disputes across various sectors in the High Court, Court of Appeal and at mediation on cases that often involve a cross-jurisdictional element. Laura acts for corporate clients and individuals on a broad range of actions including contractual and warranty disputes, professional negligence claims, judicial review actions, misrepresentation, company and partnership claims, injunctive relief and enforcement action. She is focussed on understanding client objectives to advise on appropriate dispute resolution tactics to meet client needs.

• Acting for the UK holding companies of a Brazilian Iron ore mine in Bahia, Brazil operated through a Brazilian subsidiary in a jurisdiction challenge with extensive factual and expert evidence.
• Obtaining urgent injunctive relief and pursuing a Part 7 claim for an overseas based corporate client to restrain breaches of confidential information and diversion of business opportunities.
• Acting in defamation proceedings for a claimant global garments manufacturer in respect of the publication of defamatory material by a UK based University.
• Acting for a corporate entity in high value High Court proceedings for breach of contract relating to the supply of defective machinery dealing with contract construction, recoverable loss and remoteness.
• Defending an alleged breach of warranty claim for an individual in respect of a business sale agreement.
• Advising an individual on alleged breaches of a Founder Collaboration Agreement.
• Working on the appeal case of Orientfield Holdings Ltd –v- Bird & Bird LLP acting for the respondent and successfully securing the dismissal of the appeal.
• Acting for an Intervener in the Supreme Court appeal case of R (on the application of Miller and another) v Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union.
