Expertise 
Ellie is an experienced commercial litigator, with a particular focus on complex civil fraud cases. She has advised both claimants and defendants in a wide range of commercial disputes, often involving allegations of fraud, and cases involving worldwide freezing orders and other interim remedies, claims for fraudulent breach of directors’ duties, asset recovery, authorised push payment fraud and a variety of company disputes.
Her cases to date have been both national and multi-jurisdictional across a variety of industry sectors, including the technology, retail and hospitality sectors. Ellie adopts a pragmatic approach to disputes and aims to provide clear and constructive advice to guide clients through to the best possible commercial resolution.
Ellie is fluent in French, and is Part I registered to practice in the Dubai International Financial Centre.
Experience 
- Acting for the Claimant in a case in the Commercial Court concerning an investment scam linked to PPE, involving multiple jurisdictions and committal proceedings culminating in securing judgment in the Claimant’s favour for c.€105 million (Ahmad v Ouajjou & Perez).
- Acting for the Respondent in a high value LCIA arbitration relating to enforcement of a Litigation Funding Agreement.
- Acting for the Claimant in a fraudulent breach of contract case in the DIFC court seeking damages of c.$100m.
- Defending a claim for fraudulent breach of directors’ duties, involving allegations of diversion of a commercial opportunity.
- Securing the return of monies to the overseas victim of authorised push payment fraud, involving a claim under POCA.
- Successfully striking out and securing the dismissal of very substantial claims by a liquidator against former directors, including wrongful trading (Johnson v Arden & Others Re Strobe 2 (in liquidation))
