Zuzanna Kostyra

Zuzanna is a CILEX Litigator and Advocate (Civil) with a strong foundation in contentious legal work, particularly insolvency and fraud.

Drawn to litigation for its strategic complexity and the opportunity it offers to resolve high-stakes disputes, Zuzanna’s early experience in general litigation gave her a solid grounding in legal procedure and client care, which she has since built upon in more specialised areas.

Zuzanna’s current practice involves advising insolvency practitioners on a wide range of disputes arising from corporate insolvency. She regularly assists with the investigation of fraudulent trading, misfeasance and asset dissipation, and she is experienced in issuing and defending insolvency applications. She also regularly represents clients in court, advocating in a range of insolvency applications, including orders under section 236 of the Insolvency Act 1986 and contested hearings.

Her route into the profession has given her a strong appreciation for the value of practical experience, and she brings that perspective to every case she handles.

• Acting in the liquidation of multiple umbrella payroll companies, assisting with the investigation of large-scale fraud and the recovery of misappropriated funds.
• Regularly advising on and drafting applications under sections 234-236 of the Insolvency Act 1986, including orders for the examination of directors and third parties and the production of documents.
• Representing clients in court in a range of insolvency applications, including contested hearings.
• Supporting the issuance of various insolvency claims, including misfeasance, transactions at undervalue and unlawful dividend proceedings.
• Working closely with insolvency practitioners and forensic accountants to trace and recover assets across multiple jurisdictions.
• Assisting in the enforcement of judgments and freezing orders in fraud-related insolvency proceedings, coordinating with third-party agents.

Zuzanna is a member of CILEX and R3, the UK’s insolvency and restructuring trade body.
