Maria advises clients across a range of sectors in relation to a variety of corporate matters and transactions, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructuring, and capital markets transactions.
Maria’s experience also includes advising clients on shareholder agreements, investment agreements and general corporate law matters.
Relevant Experience
- Advised Fullers, Smith and Turner Plc (Fuller’s) on its acquisition of Lovely Pubs, a collection of seven pubs in Warwickshire for a total consideration of £22.5m.
- Advised the shareholders of Altitec Trading Limited and separately the shareholders of Obelisk Energy Limited (and their related group of international companies) on the sale of both groups to Danish based energy group, Swire Renewable Energy A/S.
- Advised the Fashion Retail Academy on its acquisition of the entire issued share capital of the London College of Beauty Therapy.
- Advised Schneider & Cie. AG Internationale Transporte, a private equity backed international road, air, sea and rail freight transport company, in connection with its acquisition of Global Freight Connections Limited, an independent freight forwarder.
- Advised AIM issuer Borders & Southern Petroleum plc on its most recent fundraising round by way of a £2.5m subscription and placing of new shares.
- Advised Global Risk Partners, one of the leading independent insurance intermediaries in the UK and an operating unit of Brown & Brown, Inc.’s Retail Segment, on its biggest acquisition since becoming part of Brown & Brown’s operating unit in July 2022 of CC Flint and Company Ltd, a commercial insurance broker specialising in commercial business, motor fleet and private clients’ insurance.
- Advised Solventis Ltd, a leading chemical distributor, which also holds significant positions in both automotive fluids and aircraft de-icer markets, on its multi-million-pound acquisition of Filtration Control Solutions Limited.
Career History
Maria joined Wedlake Bell as a solicitor in the Corporate team in May 2022. Prior to joining Wedlake Bell, Maria trained at Burlingtons Legal LLP and qualified into their Corporate Department in February 2022.
Maria has a first-class degree in Law from The University of Liverpool, and achieved a distinction in her Masters degree in Law (with a specific focus on Law and Business) and the Legal Practice Course at The University of Law.
