Adam specialises in non-contentious commercial, intellectual property (IP), IT and data protection matters. He has a broad practice, which includes advising on general commercial law and contracts; the protection and exploitation of IP rights; software (including app) development; AI and machine learning; software integration, licensing, support and maintenance; technology and business-process outsourcing; online business; consumer law; and data protection and security.

Adam advises a wide range of clients, including those operating in the following sectors: tech; hotel, hospitality and restaurant; fashion and retail; sports; food and beverage; design; real estate and construction; and charities. He enjoys advising start-up, early-stage and fast-growing businesses.

Adam has experience advising on complex technology outsourcing projects (including in relation to requirements-gathering; tendering; system development, integration, testing and support/maintenance; and business continuity).

He has spent time on secondment with the intellectual property and commercial team of a global events and publishing business as well as with a premium drinks business.

  • Advising technology clients including a provider of ‘smart building’ software, technology and AV-as-a-service products on the protection, licensing and delivery of technology and software; terms of business; and various bespoke customer contract negotiations and a major European engineering business on the provision of maintenance, repair and overhaul services in relation to various international arrangements.
  • Advising clients in the sports industry including a central London sports stadium owner and operator on various IP and commercial matters, including sponsorship deals and team and community matters. Recent work also includes advising on a major long-term staging agreement with the sport’s governing body.
  • Advising a venture capital firm specialising in science and technology in relation to a major, long-term regional partnership with an entity owning, managing, developing and investing in a major property portfolio, which provides workspace to support the UK’s science, technology and innovation objectives. This involved negotiating, drafting and advising on a complex tri-partite agreement and financial models.
  • Advising a branded food sector producer on IP and commercial contractual matters, including advising in relation to commercial contracts and arrangements relating to the brand’s motor racing team; supplier arrangements including in relation to the supply of technology; packaging and branding and advertising services; and supply chain (including negotiating and managing certain international customer/importer/distributor agreements).
  • Advising fashion and retail brands including the designer of clothing, accessories, footwear and fragrances on IP and commercial matters (B2B and B2C) including relating to the operation of retail outlets in department stores and at major airports.
  • Advising a restaurant and bar brand who is the owner and operator of an international concept on their IP and commercial arrangements. Work includes the drafting and negotiation of operating agreements, licensing and brand management agreements, franchise agreements and consultancy agreements in relation to various initiatives, including the design, fit-out, launch and operation of the client’s concept in Europe, the USA, the Middle East and Asia. Advising multiple hotel groups on numerous commercial contractual matters, including several recent restaurant openings and F&B outsourcing arrangements, event/exhibition sponsorship projects and the launch of new gym/spa products and services.

Adam graduated from King’s College London with a degree in Chemistry. Before commencing his legal career, Adam worked in the science, publishing and financial services industries.
