Expertise

Katharine advises on a wide range of commercial real estate matters involving a variety of property types including warehouses and logistics properties, industrial estates, out of town retail parks, student housing, hotels, shopping centres and office premises. Katharine advises on acquisitions and disposals, refinancings, property development and landlord and tenant work as well as advising on a number of portfolio transactions. She also has experience in real estate financing, corporate real estate transactions, and all aspects of asset management.

Katharine has recently worked inhouse in the co-working sector so has experience in this field and knows what it is like to be ‘client side’.


Recent Experience

Katharine has recently joined from an inhouse position at WeWork where, during the company’s noteworthy time of rapid expansion, she was responsible for leading both commercial and legal negotiations with landlords to close real estate transactions across EMEA to grow the co-working business.

At her previous firm, Katharine acted for numerous clients including British Land, LondonMetric, Hansteen, Oxenwood, Greystar, CBRE, Goldman Sachs and Henderson Park. Her experience includes:

  • Acting for LondonMetric on its acquisition of 14 urban and regional logistics warehouses from Cabot Properties for £116m and on its acquisition of 10 single let urban logistics properties for £55m from the Act Foundation.
  • Acting for Henderson Park in connection with its £500m acquisition of the London and Birmingham Hilton Metropole hotels.
  •  Acting for CBRE in relation to the acquisition of a portfolio of 22 UK logistics assets and the formation of an associated joint venture with Prologis.
  • Acting for Greystar in its acquisition, financing and development of 3 tower properties located at 2 Millharbour, London.

Career History

Katharine joined Wedlake Bell in September 2020.

Katharine was previously working as an inhouse lawyer and transaction manager in the Real Estate team at WeWork.

Prior to that, she was an associate in the Real Estate team at Jones Day for 5 years. Katharine trained at Mayer Brown International LLP.

Katharine has a Theology degree from Durham University and a Law degree from Kaplan Law School.
