Jo qualified as an English solicitor in March 2010 and specialises in domestic and international employment law. Jo advises international businesses on UK specific and multi-jurisdictional labour law issues, and she manages cross-border projects throughout the APAC and EMEA regions. Her specific interests focus on harmonising and drafting employment contracts, policies and handbooks; managing international data protection laws; business protection; and staff mobility issues.

Jo is also responsible for maintaining the department’s international legal knowhow collection, and she creates precedent employment documentation for use all over the world.

Career History

Jo obtained a First Class Degree in Law with American Law at Nottingham University, and studied core elements of the American Juris Doctor programme at the University of Virginia School of Law. She completed her training contract with Baker & McKenzie, qualifying into their Employment Team in March 2010.

Jo joined Wedlake Bell’s Employment Department in December 2014, and is focussed on the international side of the business. She chairs the Wedlake Bell Charity Committee, and is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.


Jo contributes to Tolley’s Employment Law, which is used by lawyers around the world. She has also authored a range of labour law articles for different publications, including ELA and PLC, and she posts international labour law alerts on the iGlobal Law website.
