PENSIONS COMPASS MAY 2021
19 / 05 / 2021
Welcome to our Summer 2021 Edition.
The Courts and Tribunals are currently very busy in the pensions field and on a great variety of topics. From misguided transfers to divorce wrangles, from suing SIPP operators to doing battle with HMRC – never a dull moment in pensions!
And there is much more ahead, see the long list of important forthcoming Court decisions in our Ready Reckoner in this issue.
Notably pension scams should become history soon – the combined effect of the Online Safety Bill and the restrictions in the proposed Transfer Regulations (Consultation opened on 14/5/21 and closes on 10/6/2021) should have a powerful deterrent effect. We will report on these anti – scamming developments in our July edition of Pensions Compass.
Articles in this edition:
Part 1 – Transfers offshore continue to be problematic: Justin throws light on the High Court’s decision in Burns v Burns.
Part 2 – Paul and Clive review a medley of cases involving schemes getting themselves into hot water with members, pension introducers and HMRC.
Part 3 – Paul reviews the recent Court of Appeal “Adams” case involving a dispute with a SIPP operator; and
