James’s property work covers a broad ambit and includes acquisitions and disposals, property finance and landlord and tenant matters with the commercial sector being his primary area of focus.
James’s clients include international investors (both commercial and residential), international finance companies, NHS practices, high net worth individuals, banks, charities, and retail chains. He has particular experience in dealing with international clients and addressing the attendant structuring issues that can arise.
- Currently advising an international retail finance corporation on their multi-site expansion into the UK.
- Advising on the lease assembly acquisition of a City HQ for an international foreign exchange company.
- Advising on the disposal of the agricultural element of an estate in Kent.
- Advising on the disposal of a £multi-million development site by an educational charity in the southeast.
James read law at Newcastle University and qualified in 2000. For the first five years of his career James undertook a wide variety of commercial and litigation work at an international firm in Mayfair before moving to a large West End firm to concentrate on his growing property practice. He joined Wedlake Bell LLP from Cumberland Ellis when the firms merged in April 2012.
