UK Real Estate and Estate Planning for US Citizens
Wedlake Bell acts for US citizens across the firm, but frequently in the Private Client and Residential Property departments where we advise US citizens thinking of coming to live in the UK on the related real estate and estate planning considerations. The Residential Property and Private Client teams work together to advise on the London property market and the conveyancing process for buying or renting property here, together with the associated UK tax implications and the potential requirement for a UK Will and estate planning advice.
In this article first published in US Law Magazine (Fall/Winter 2013 edition) (http://web.uslaw.org), Wedlake Bell partner Emma Loveday and senior associate Parminder Sidhu discuss the real estate and estate planning issues that a US citizen needs to know when coming to the UK.
US Law is a global network of more than 100 law firms across the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa, of which Wedlake Bell is the UK’s representative member. Emma is in the Private Client team and specialises in UK trust, tax and estate planning and Parminder is in the Residential Property team and advises on residential property and developments.
